This is the title of XM’s new thought leadership blog series, it is more than just a name it is a statement, a responsibility, and an invitation.

When people hear “The State of African Branding,” they should immediately think of a space where the most important conversations about branding on this continent are happening. A place where insights are sharp, stories are rich, and ideas are practical enough to shape the future of businesses here and beyond.

This title was chosen deliberately, because it mirrors how institutions across the world publish “state of the union” or “state of the industry” reports  -benchmarks that set the tone for everyone else. By calling our platform The State of African Branding, we are saying, without hesitation, that XM is stepping forward as an authority, a custodian, and a storyteller of branding in Africa.

Why This Matters

Now, why are we doing this? Because Africa’s branding story is unique and yet, it is under-told. Too often, global branding conversations are borrowed and recycled from Western playbooks. But African markets are different, they are young, fast-moving, cultural, and complex. A single campaign can succeed in Lagos but fail in Nairobi. A brand that resonates in Accra may need a different voice in Johannesburg.

Our job with this series is to unpack these dynamics. To tell the success stories and the cautionary tales. To highlight how brands here are being built and what lessons the world can learn from them.

At XM, we know branding isn’t just visuals and campaigns. It’s about soul, about meaning, about impact. And through this platform, we’ll show not just where branding in Africa is today but where it’s going tomorrow.

What Readers Will Gain

For our audience, The State of African Branding will be:

  • A compass for founders, marketers, and businesses trying to navigate African markets.
  • A resource filled with insights, case studies, and trends.
  • A conversation space that challenges old ideas and sparks new thinking.

Why XM

Finally, this is not just content for content’s sake, this is how we stake our claim as thought leaders, this is how we show the industry that XM doesn’t just create beautiful work, we shape the future of branding conversations on this continent.

Because if there’s going to be a “state of African branding,” XM should be the ones defining it.
